Batam, June 21, 2025 – For three decades, Garda Oto, Asuransi Astra’s car insurance product, has been an integral part of providing protection and a sense of security to millions of customers in Indonesia. Garda Oto remains committed to providing the best service to meet the need for comfort and safety while driving. This journey is certainly inseparable from the support of our loyal customers.
Therefore, as an expression of gratitude for customer loyalty as well as a celebration of three decades of journey, Garda Oto collaborated with Agung Toyota to invite customers and their families to plant 3,000 Mangrove tree seedlings and make crafts from one of the MSME products of Kampung Berseri Astra (KBA) Tua Bakau Serip at the Garda Oto 30th Anniversary Customer Gathering event in Batam (22/6).
The Mangrove tree seedlings planted this time are the result of donations from customers who have participated in the sustainable program, Buy a Garda Oto Policy = Donate 1 Tree for the period 1 – 31 May 2025.

Entering adulthood, Garda Oto has witnessed and been part of various dynamics and changes of the times, from technological developments, lifestyle transformations, to the ever-evolving challenges of mobility. With a commitment to peace of mind, Garda Oto faithfully accompanies its customers’ journeys, establishing itself not only as a vehicle protection product, but also as a reliable partner who can always be trusted on every journey.
Beyond providing protection through insurance services, Garda Oto is also committed to working together to create a positive impact on the environment. No less than 3,000 mangrove seedlings, consisting of 2,000 from Garda Oto and 1,000 from Agung Toyota, were planted in the KBA Tua Bakau Serip, Batam.
This activity is a concrete manifestation of Astra Insurance’s support for the Astra Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 targets by 2050, and is in line with SDGs point 13, namely Climate Change Management (Climate Action). Furthermore, based on data from the Batam Environmental Agency (DLH), the area of Mangrove forests has decreased from 6,527 hectares in 2015 to 4,820 hectares in 2023, with the Tua Mangrove Serip area as one of the affected areas, apparently caused by development.
This condition shows the importance of preserving mangroves as an effort to absorb and store large amounts of carbon, protect the climate, prevent abrasion, and support the economy and welfare of coastal communities that depend on this ecosystem.

Seeing the many benefits of Mangrove conservation, Agung Toyota is very open to collaborating on planting Mangrove tree seedlings with Gardo Oto. The basis for this collaboration is that the purpose of planting Mangrove seedlings is in line with Agung Toyota’s CSR program as a member of Agung Concern Group which not only focuses on business, but wants to realize social care through CSR programs, into the company’s values which are divided into 4 main pillars, namely health, social, education and environment.
“This collaboration is part of Agung Concern Group’s initiative, which targets environmental preservation. Therefore, we invite all parties to continue caring for what has been planted and maintaining what has been started. Hopefully, this collaboration will be the beginning of more similar initiatives in the future, for better environmental sustainability,” said Daning Nursilasari, General Marketing Manager of Agung Toyota.

The event continued with a craft session, featuring woven plates, created by a local MSME from the Tua Bakau Serip Village Community. Participants were invited to participate directly in a creative process that prioritizes sustainability principles while supporting environmentally friendly practices and local economic empowerment.
This initiative is expected to foster collective awareness of the importance of individual contributions to protecting the planet, while also fostering an appreciation for sustainable local potential. In line with Garda Oto’s commitment to creating memorable experiences at every customer touchpoint, the initiative also includes activities at Elite Seasport in Batam, where customers are invited to enjoy a variety of exciting family activities by the sea, including water sports, beach games, and relaxing meals.
“30 years isn’t just a number, but a symbol of the trust placed in us by millions of customers and the incredible support of our media partners. Today, we’re not just celebrating our age, but also appreciating every inspiring story, every piece of feedback, and every piece of support we’ve shared to continue growing and developing.”
“We would like to thank our customers for attending today’s event. We hope this collaborative effort will provide tangible, ongoing benefits for various parties and create a sustainable environment in KBA Tua Bakau Serip, Batam. “Because wherever we are, we always want to share, providing benefits for generations to come,” said Laurentius Iwan Pranoto, Head of PR, Marcomm, and Events at Asuransi Astra.
To celebrate its three-decade journey and to improve financial literacy and education in Indonesia, Garda Oto invites Indonesian journalists to participate in the article and photo journalism competition; Astra Insurance Journalist Appreciation 2025 with the theme “Garda Oto’s Three-Decade Journey: From Commitment and Innovation to Meaningful National Trust” which will run from June to September 2025.
