Agung Concern Group, through Agung Toyota, officially opens a waste station in Pekanbaru, promoting sustainable and economically valuable waste management.

Pekanbaru, June 21, 2026 – As a manifestation of its commitment to supporting sustainable development through its Bakti Bagi Negeri CSR program, Agung Concern Group, through Agung Toyota, inaugurated a Waste Station in the Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) Taman Putri Kaca Mayang, Kota Pekanbaru. This facility represents a concrete step by the company to encourage a culture of wiser waste management, increase public awareness of the environment, and support the creation of a circular economy.

The inauguration of the waste station was part of a series of events commemorating Pekanbaru City’s 242nd anniversary, which began with social activities including mass circumcisions and free health checkups as a demonstration of community service.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Pekanbaru Agung Nugroho, Deputy Mayor of Pekanbaru Markarius Anwar, Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives Andre Rosiade, the ranks of the Pekanbaru City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), and various officials of the Pekanbaru City Government.

From Agung Toyota, the Regional Manager of West Area Agung Toyota, Mr. Mahmud Fauzi, was present, along with the Top Management and Branch Manager of Agung Toyota West Region, which demonstrated the company’s commitment to supporting sustainability programs in various operational areas.

This first waste station was built in the RTH Taman Putri Kaca Mayang as a first step in fostering a culture of waste sorting at the source. Going forward, Agung Concern Group, along with Agung Toyota, is committed to building four additional waste stations in Pekanbaru City to ensure the program’s benefits reach a wider audience.

Through the Waste Station, residents can deposit various types of inorganic waste, such as plastic, paper, cardboard, glass, metal, and electronic waste (e-waste) that has been sorted from their homes. This waste will then be managed responsibly and given economic value through an integrated management system, enabling residents not only to contribute to environmental preservation but also to gain economic benefits from the habit of sorting their waste.

In his remarks, Agung Toyota’s West Area Regional Manager, Mahmud Fauzi, stated that the Waste Station is a special gift from Agung Toyota to the Pekanbaru community in celebration of Pekanbaru City’s anniversary.

We want to change society’s paradigm regarding waste. Waste is no longer just discarded waste, but a resource with economic value if managed properly. We hope this Waste Station will be the beginning of a culture of clean living and environmental awareness, while also providing economic benefits to the community,” said Mahmud Fauzi.

The Pekanbaru City Government also expressed its appreciation for the initiative presented by Agung Toyota and Agung Concern Group. According to Pekanbaru Mayor Agung Nugroho, collaboration between the private sector and the government is key to addressing environmental issues in urban areas.

He hopes that the Waste Station will not only serve as a waste management facility but will also transform the public’s mindset that waste has value if properly sorted and managed. Education from home is considered crucial for raising public awareness about maintaining a clean city while reducing the volume of waste ending up in landfills (TPA).

This initiative also received praise from Andre Rosiade, Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), who considered the Waste Station program an example of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) implementation that has a long-term impact on the community, both environmental and socio-economic, and is expected to inspire other companies in Indonesia.

As part of Agung Concern Group’s Environmental CSR Pillar, the Waste Station program is a concrete form of the company’s contribution to supporting carbon emission reduction through increasing waste recycling rates, reducing waste ending up in landfills, and implementing the sustainable principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R).

Through its spirit of Bakti Bagi Negeri (Devotion to the Nation), Agung Concern Group believes that collaboration between businesses, government, and the community is a crucial foundation for creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment. In line with the company’s vision, “Empowering Growth and Development for All by Delivering Innovative Mobility Solutions,” Agung Concern will continue to present various CSR programs that provide tangible benefits to the community while supporting the achievement of sustainable development in Indonesia.
